summary

Atelectasis is a kind of lung disease. One of my colleagues will have dyspnea and chest tightness after getting sick. What do you mean by atelectasis?

What does atelectasis mean

First, atelectasis refers to the decrease in volume or air content of one or more lung segments or lobes. Due to the absorption of gas in the alveoli, atelectasis is usually accompanied by the decrease of light transmittance in the affected area, and the adjacent structures (bronchi, pulmonary vessels, pulmonary interstitium) gather to the atelectasis area. Sometimes, consolidation of the alveolar cavity and compensatory emphysema of other lung tissues can be seen.

Secondly, atelectasis can be divided into congenital or acquired. Congenital atelectasis refers to the fact that there is no gas filling in the alveoli of infants at birth. Clinically, infants have severe dyspnea and cyanosis, and most of them die of severe hypoxia after birth.

Finally, the clinical manifestations of atelectasis mainly depend on the etiology, the degree and scope of atelectasis, the time of occurrence and the severity of complications. More acute side of the disease lobar atelectasis, chest tightness, shortness of breath, dyspnea, dry cough. The symptoms of different conditions will be different, and some patients will have co infection, which can cause chest pain and sudden dyspnea, cyanosis, cough, wheezing, hemoptysis, purulent sputum, chills and fever, tachycardia, elevated body temperature, decreased blood pressure, and sometimes shock.
