Symptoms of viral meningoencephalitis
summary
Viral encephalitis refers to acute intracranial inflammation caused by a variety of viruses. If the lesion involves meninges and brain parenchyma, it is viral meningoencephalitis. Older people complain of headaches, while babies are irritable and easily irritated. Acute onset of viral meningoencephalitis is characterized by fever, nausea, cough and drowsiness. The course of disease is mostly in 1-2 weeks, so let's share the symptoms of viral meningoencephalitis.
Symptoms of viral meningoencephalitis
First: acute onset of disease, or the first or precursor infectious diseases. The main manifestations were fever, nausea, vomiting, weakness and drowsiness. Older children may complain of headache, while infants are irritable and irritable. Generally, there are few severe disturbance of consciousness and convulsions. They may have meningeal irritation signs such as neck rigidity, but there are no limited signs of nervous system. The course of disease is mostly within 2 weeks.
Second: most of the children with diffuse cerebral lesions mainly manifested as fever, recurrent seizures, different degrees of consciousness disorders and intracranial hypertension. Most of the convulsions are complete, but there may be focal seizures, severe convulsion status. The children may have somnolence, drowsiness, coma, deep coma, even cortical state and other different degrees of consciousness changes. If the respiratory rhythm is irregular or the pupil is not enlarged, the possibility of intracranial hypertension complicated with cerebral hernia should be considered. Some children are accompanied with hemiplegia or limb paralysis.
Third: if the brain lesions mainly accumulated in the motor area of frontal cortex, the main clinical manifestation was recurrent convulsions with or without fever, most of them were complete or focal tonic clonic seizures, and a few were myoclonic or tonic seizures. Epileptic seizure status could appear in all patients.
matters needing attention
1. Maintain the balance of water and electrolyte and reasonable nutrition supply, and give intravenous nutrition or albumin to the malnourished. 2. Brain edema and intracranial hypertension were controlled. 3. Control convulsions and severe mental and behavioral disorders. 4. Antiviral drugs: acyclovir 5-10mg / kg, once every 8 hours, or its derivative propoxyguanosine, 5mg / kg, once every 12 hours. Both drugs need to be used continuously for 10-14 days, intravenous drip administration, the main effect on herpes simplex virus is the strongest, other such as varicella zoster virus, cytomegalovirus, EB virus also has inhibitory effect.
