summary

Asymptomatic hematuria and (or) proteinuria, formerly known as occult glomerulonephritis in China, refers to a group of glomerular diseases without edema, hypertension and renal function damage, but only manifested as glomerular hematuria and (or) proteinuria. Asymptomatic hematuria and proteinuria? Let's talk about it

Asymptomatic hematuria and proteinuria?

For patients with simple hematuria (only hematuria but no proteinuria), it is necessary to do phase contrast microscope examination of urine red blood cell morphology and (or) determination of urine red blood cell volume distribution curve to identify the source of hematuria.

In addition, hematuria due to urinary tract diseases (such as urinary calculus, tumor or inflammation) should be excluded.

If it is glomerular hematuria without edema, hypertension or renal dysfunction, it should be considered. IgA nephropathy is the most common manifestation of recurrent simple hematuria.

matters needing attention

Asymptomatic hematuria and (or) proteinuria can be prolonged, intermittent or sometimes mild, sometimes slightly severe. The renal function of most patients can be maintained normal for a long time. However, the prognosis of a few patients can be manifested as automatic recovery or gradual increase of urinary protein, hypertension and renal dysfunction, and turn into chronic nephritis.
