It includes 8 early open reading frames (e1-e8), 2 late reading frames and 1 non coding long control area. In the early open reading frame, E6 and E7 genes play the most important role in cell growth, and E6 and E7 proteins encoded by E6 and E7 cause immortalization of cervical epithelial cells.
