Treatment of chapped nipple
summary
I recently found a split in my left nipple, but it didn't hurt or itch. I didn't feel much. Through treatment, now slightly improved, the following is my experience to share with you, the treatment of chapped nipple.
Treatment of chapped nipple
First: when the nipple is chapped, wet hot compress should be done before each feeding, and massage the breast to stimulate the milk reflex, and then squeeze out a little milk to soften the areola, which is easy to connect the nipple with the baby's mouth.
Second: when feeding, first suck the contralateral breast. If both sides of the breast are chapped, first suck the lighter side. Be sure to let the baby hold the nipple and most of the areola, and often change the feeding posture, so as to reduce the stimulation to the nipple when sucking hard.
Third: after feeding the milk, gently press the baby's mandible with the index finger. When the baby opens his mouth, take the opportunity to pull out the nipple. Don't pull out the nipple from the baby's mouth rigidly.
matters needing attention
I would also like to emphasize: often wipe the nipple gently with a dry and soft towel to increase the tenacity of the nipple epidermis and avoid damage when sucking.
