What is torticollis
summary
After giving birth to a child, a friend found that the child's neck was abnormal. After examination, he found that there was torticollis. So, what is torticollis? Let's talk about it.
What is torticollis
Firstly, torticollis can be divided into congenital muscular torticollis and congenital skeletal torticollis. The former is caused by the contracture of the sternocleidomastoid muscle of one side, which is quite common; the latter is caused by the deformity of cervical bone development, which is rare. The occurrence of torticollis is mainly related to heredity, especially the occurrence of dystocia during childbirth may also lead to the occurrence of torticollis.
Secondly, the cause of congenital muscular torticollis is still unknown. But most scholars believe that abnormal intrauterine pressure or fetal position is the main cause of congenital muscular torticollis. The abnormal position of the fetus in the uterus or the abnormal pressure of the uterine wall can make one side of the neck compressed, and the local blood circulation in the sternocleidomastoid muscle is obstructed, resulting in ischemic fibrous degeneration of the muscle and causing torticollis. Some scholars believe that the sternocleidomastoid muscle nutritional vascular embolism leads to muscular fibrous degeneration and forming torticollis.
Finally, after the baby was born, the mother could find that the baby's head tilted to the affected side, the face rotated to the healthy side, and the mandible pointed to the healthy shoulder. After 2-3 weeks, the torticollis was more obvious. Turning the head to the contralateral side is obviously limited, and those with mild symptoms should be observed carefully. With the growth and development of the children, the symptoms become more and more serious.

The disease of torticollis is mainly for surgical treatment to improve, such a disease in peacetime should be early detection, early diagnosis, early treatment, to prevent further damage to children.
