Symptoms of retinopathy in infants
summary
The human body is like a magic machine, when a part of the machine has problems, the body will appear some small conditions to remind our attention. However, do you turn a blind eye to these health warnings because of your busy life every day? I would like to share with you my views on the symptoms of retinopathy in infants.
Symptoms of retinopathy in infants
The incidence of neonatal eye disease is increasing year by year. Early screening of neonatal eye disease is very important for children's eye health care. Parents and hospitals hope that eye disease screening will be included in neonatal free screening as soon as possible. For example, retinopathy of prematurity, retinoblastoma, congenital cataract, congenital glaucoma and other eye diseases are generally not easy to be found. When there are abnormalities, the best correction time may have been missed, resulting in visual dysfunction or visual disability. In addition, if retinoblastoma can not be found early, once it spreads, it will even endanger life.
Early detection of neonatal visual impairment will provide the best opportunity for effective and low-cost treatment. However, at present, children's eye disease screening is restricted by many factors, and the prevalence of screening is not high. It is understood that China's annual birth population is about 13 million to 16 million, while the number of neonatal eye screening is only about 10000. The coverage of eye care for children aged 0 to 3 is very low, and many children with eye diseases miss the best treatment time. 32 week premature infants or low birth weight infants weighing less than 2 kg are prone to retinopathy. According to relevant regulations, such children should be screened for fundus diseases. The treatment window of some eye diseases is very short.
Some eye diseases need treatment within 72 hours, miss the best opportunity for treatment, children will not be able to recover. The smaller the newborn is, the higher the incidence is, and it is difficult to detect the occult early onset. In neonatal eye diseases, neonatal ophthalmitis, retinal detachment of premature infants, fundus hemorrhage, eye tumors, glaucoma, cataract and other diseases can be treated with drugs as soon as possible. Ophthalmologists remind the public that it is difficult to distinguish children's eye diseases from their appearance in the early stage, and it is also difficult for children to find them themselves. Therefore, early screening is very necessary. We must not neglect children's eye disease screening by relying on our own observation.
matters needing attention
If the newborn has serious fear of light, tears and other symptoms, after the birth of the child, if the eyeball is larger than that of other children of the same age, the color of the black eye is not clear and transparent, the pupil is dilated, and it feels hard to touch the eyeball, we should be highly vigilant against congenital glaucoma. Once diagnosed, surgical treatment should be performed immediately, otherwise it may lead to optic atrophy and blindness.
