Symptoms of neck muscle spasm

Facial spasm refers to the spasmodic and painless contraction of the muscles innervated by the facial nerve. The first symptom usually starts from the slight twitch of the orbicularis oculi muscle of the lower eyelid, and gradually extends upward to all orbicularis oculi muscle, and then to the lower half of the facial muscle, especially the corner of the mouth twitch.

When the orbicularis oculi muscle spasm is serious, the eyes can not be opened, thus affecting walking and work, and may be accompanied by mild weakness and muscle atrophy. Mental tension, fatigue and autonomic movement aggravate, and disappear during sleep. Facial twitch is not accompanied with pain, and the random contraction of facial muscle is not affected in non facial twitch.

The nerve stem block therapy is to puncture through the stylomastoid foramen for drug-induced nerve block, and satisfactory results can be obtained. In severe cases, 1ml of 50% alcohol can be used for subcutaneous nerve branch block, or 0.3-0.4ml of injection of facial nerve stem at the stylomastoid foramen can be used for block. But at the same time, it can produce different degrees of facial paralysis.
