HFMD is an infectious disease in children, also known as eruptive vesicular stomatitis. It usually occurs in children under 5 years old, and can cause herpes in hands, feet, mouth and other parts. A few children can cause complications such as myocarditis, pulmonary edema and aseptic meningoencephalitis. If the condition of individual severe children develops rapidly, it will lead to death. The main clinical symptoms of the disease are herpes or ulceration of the hand, foot and oral mucosa. Hand foot and mouth disease (HFMD) is an infectious disease caused by enterovirus. There are more than 20 types of enterovirus causing HFMD, among which coxsackievirus a16 and enterovirus 71 are the most common.

Hand foot mouth disease transmission symptoms?

Fever: most babies with HFMD have fever for 1-2 days. The temperature of fever is about 38 ℃ (the normal temperature of babies is the same as that of adults, which is 36-37 ℃), and there are papules or herpes.

Anorexia: erythema and herpes are also scattered in the buccal mucosa and soft palate (as shown in the figure below). Oral herpes is easy to break and ulcers appear, so it is particularly painful to eat, so the children refuse to eat, drool and other symptoms. Therefore, it is suggested to eat some liquid food.

Oral cavity: oral mucosal rash appears earlier, with pain, like blisters scattered in the mouth the size of mung bean, with red halo around, mainly in the tongue and cheek, and often occurs on the side of lip and teeth. At the same time, the blisters in the mouth soon burst to form small gray dots or a gray white film. There is a red halo around the blisters. Under the gray white film, we can see the pitted or flaky erosive surface. After 2-4 days, it will be absorbed and dried to form dark brown scab.

matters needing attention

The whole course of the disease is about 5-10 days, most of them are self-healing, with good prognosis and no sequelae. Parents should carefully observe the physical condition of infants, such as fever and other symptoms should be timely to the hospital, in order to find out the health risks.
